Regional armchair "good woman" late 18th century

Regional armchair called "bonne femme" in chestnut from the end of the 18th century. Originally the seat was made of straw. In poor condition, it was replaced by a padded board with a layer of horsehair under a thickness of foam. Then it was covered with a hand-embroidered gray linen canvas and decorated with a cable on the top of the seat. A gathered striped flounce, also decorated with a curved cable between each button, surrounds the seat and gives it a very original and atypical appearance, with a slightly old-fashioned charm, respecting the style of the piece of furniture which is in excellent condition.
