Adolf Loos was an Austrian architect and designer and one of the pioneers of modern architecture. Known for his purist design language and rejection of unnecessary ornamentation, he designed Café Capua as well as Café Museum, the American Bar (Loos Bar), the Looshaus on Michaelerplatz in Vienna, Villa Müller in Prague, and the Steiner House and Scheu House in Vienna. His furniture, interiors and buildings are key works of Viennese Modernism. Together with Otto Wagner, Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser and Joseph Maria Olbrich, he belongs to the big names of Austrian design history.
