Elegant vintage serving dish with handles in fine earthenware, square in shape with rounded corners, adorned with a rich vegetal decoration in slip. The central composition combines a large vine leaf with finely modelled relief veins, fern fronds, and brown branches on a cream background, animated by a small blue flower. The border is rhythmically decorated with a light green geometric frieze, framed by a string of pearls and highlighted with a brown line. The unmarked reverse features a characteristic cream glaze typical of fine French earthenware productions from the 19th century. The slip technique, which involves applying a liquid clay paste in relief onto the surface before firing, enjoyed great success in the second half of the 19th century, particularly in the workshops of Normandy and the Centre-West of France. Naturalistic decorations — leaves, ferns, insects — were particularly prized, reflecting the era's taste for a faithful and poetic representation of nature. Sold as is with visible marks and cracks in the photos.
