Rattan ball lamp

Rattan ball lamp. This lamp originates from France and dates from the early 1980s. France is renowned for its outstanding designs in rattan furniture. We do not know the exact plant used for the lamp, but we believe it is rattan. The lamp is undoubtedly handmade. The shade was likely made using a technique involving an inflatable ball, where the ball, once finished, was deflated and removed. As with most vintage rattan designs, the lamp is not marked anywhere. Please note that the bulb holder hangs quite loosely inside the shade. It can be secured if desired. Diameter 25 cm. It shows signs of use and wear; one of the suspension rings is very worn and may need to be removed or replaced. A bulb is included in the purchase (it has a standard E26/E27 socket). For goodness’ sake, please use an LED bulb that does not get hot, so the lamp does not catch fire. Packed securely and sent with insurance.
