Magical: trumeau circa 1900. Superb gilding, royal allure.

This trumeau from the very beginning of the 20th century has a crazy allure. Work that can be compared to that of the faubourg st antoine in paris (where the best craftsmen gathered to reproduce antique furniture in a traditional way), it offers a mirror in the lower part (the glass is more recent, and therefore in perfect condition), framed by a superb frame in wood and gilded stucco, reproducing classical motifs in the corners, a beautiful row of piastres on the edge of the glass and floral motifs that extend along the gilded uprights. The trumeau part, above, offers a beautiful floral rosette, surrounded by a gilded star-shaped garland itself punctuated by small isolated bouquets of flowers that correspond to the imposing one in the middle. All these decorations were hand-carved and gilded in the same way. As a result, the work is superb: very fine and very airy. Finally, a beautiful gilded cornice tops everything off against a wood paneling background. We still have the two old nails fixed on the top of the trumeau which allow it to be fixed to the wall. The back is paneled in solid wood for the mirror part and solid for the rest. The trumeau part, in solid wood, has moved a little with the temperature variations and we see a clear and not very wide crack at the level of the bouquet. We also have, consequently, a small lifting on the sides. But all this is rather anecdotal and reinforces the charm of the mirror without affecting its solidity or its beauty.
