The knotted chair, designed by marcel wanders in 1996. Originally this experimental chair was developed for droog design netherlands. Later cappellini started the production. The chair combines handicraft and high-tech. The rope is knotted from carbon fibers and aramid fibers to form a chair using the traditional technique of macrame. Then the cord is immersed in epoxy resin and is hang up, so that the chair could harden in the right shape with the help of gravity. The chair is anything unlike the design world had seen and became a modern design icon, and a sought-after collector's item. Part of the permanent collections of the moma in new york, the v&a in london and the stedelijk museum in amsterdam among others. The chair is in veru good original condition. Only minor traces of use.
