The chair was originally designed by Klint in 1936 for the Grundtvig Church in Copenhagen and manufactured by Fritz Hansen. Kaare Klint is recognized as one of the most influential Danish designers of the twentieth century. He was an important example and teacher for designers such as Poul Kjaerholm, Hans Wegner and Borge Mogensen.
