HST Orientalist Painting Hana HLADIKOVA-BERNKOPFOVA (1900-1978) R. Czech

Old painting (first half of the 20th century) made in oil on mounted canvas (original) representing an animated orientalist composition, this work is signed jana hladikova-bernkopfova (1900-1978) work requiring some restoration: healthy pictorial layer and frame, good tension but some losses and scratches: everything is visible in photos. Frame size: 54 / 65 cm. Biography: hana hladíková-bernkopfová, (sometimes listed under the first name jana), was born in 1900 in vlašim. She studied at the school of applied arts in prague with professors mašek and špillar between 1917 and 1920. A study trip to paris, where she took evening classes at the colarosse and grande chaumière academies, marked a major turning point in her work. She also exhibited with czechoslovakian women painters at the salon d'automne, salon des indépendants. In the 1920s, she became friends with andré derain. She exhibited in several prestigious galleries in paris. The galerie berte weill exhibited her works alongside paintings by chagall, picasso, léger, etc. In france, she maintained relationships with other artists, including františek tichý, a family friend.
