Traditional ceramic baking dish, more specifically called a "paffour" (sometimes spelled "pas-four" or "pate-four" depending on regional dialects), traditionally used for baking pies or tarts. This is a handcrafted piece made of glazed stoneware. The central surface features a speckled amber/orange glaze, while the rim (the edge) is fluted and decorated with blue touches. Unlike a classic pie dish with high sides, this type of dish with a fluted and slightly raised edge allowed for baking doughs and tarts directly in the oven (often in old bread ovens), while also providing a lovely presentation for serving at the table. The hand-engraved inscription under the dish explicitly states "PAFFOUR, " followed by the year of manufacture, which is 92, meaning 1992. There is a crack (see photo). Ideal as decoration or a trivet. Diameter = 30.5 cm. Height = 2 cm.
