This exceptional buffet combines functional furniture and contemporary art. The artist Dieter Zurnieden, based in Speyer, has transformed the piece into a three-dimensional artistic object. MDF panels crafted like wood engravings explore the theme "Bees and Nature": lines, hollows, and organic structures interact with the geometry of the furniture. Created in 2026, this unique piece retains its functions: drawers, storage, and surface remain usable. From furniture to three-dimensional image. The starting point of the work was the furniture itself. The artist initially viewed it as a sculpture, studying its proportions, volume, and presence in space. In a second phase, he considered it as a graphic surface and structure. The MDF panels, worked in the style of wood engraving, develop the theme of bees and nature. Organic forms unite with the clear geometry of the furniture: sculpture and graphic design converge, transforming a three-dimensional object into "wood engraving in space." Its original function remains, enriched by a visual and tactile dimension. Artistic approach. Zurnieden's practice begins with photographs and encountered realities, nourished by literature, cinema, and the virtual world. These materials are digitally transformed, diverted, reduced, and fragmented to create a new perception of the visible. At the center of this approach is the encounter between his sensitive inner world and the perceived outer world. Changes in perspective open visual spaces between reality and transformation, making the familiar strangely new. According to a passage from an opening speech by Dr. A. Nisters (2023).
