Sublime set of Christofle cutlery from Paris, France, iconic Marly model in silver-plated metal. Brand new, never used, in sealed original packaging + included period cardboard box. Official new value from Christofle: €1, 440 (€120/fork, €120/soup spoon) Contents of the sale: 6 silver-plated table forks. 6 silver-plated soup spoons. Original box (26.7 X 9.5 X 4 cm) Total weight: 1, 105 g. Purchased at the time from the watchmaking-jewellery store Cadenas Ste Menassieu (26 rue Pierre Roche in Marseille) Brief history: Created in 1897, Marly pays tribute to the Château de Marly, the "country" residence of Louis XIV near Paris, destroyed during the Revolution. A place with a more relaxed protocol, it inspired the "with marli" plate shape (sloped edge for handling without getting dirty). This asymmetrical rocaille decor with plant motifs evokes French refinement and contemporary nature.
