A set of three 1930’s theatre seats from shell centre (southbank, london) with original design work undertaken by cecil beaton. Original seat numbers and ash tray. Reupholstered by e & a wates with all new flame retardant polyether foam, dacron fibre and ebonised wooden feet. Purchased from e & a wates for £1, 950 (not including fabric cost). Seats covered in wool plaid and designer’s guild 100% cotton varese velvet. Seats themselves are in excellent condition but fabric needs a clean. Some very visible stains - not sure whether these will come out easily. These seats are really comfortable and supportive for the back, but the real benefit is the small footprint they take-up compared to a three-seater sofa. With the seats up they are only 20 inches/ 51cm deep. Perfect for a small living room, playroom, barn, home cinema, garage with projector etc or a commercial property eh hotel. With the seats down they are 30 inches/ 76 cm deep. Height: 34 inches/ 86cm; width: 72 inches/ 182 cm.
