Fruity sweetness and family home charm with this charming quartet of fine earthenware soup plates, signed by the Gien factory in the 1980s. The "Marie Pierre Boitard" model celebrates the French country chic spirit: a blue wicker basket overflowing with pink apples, bunches of grapes and generous foliage - a motif at once delicious, colorful and comforting, blue polka dots and two borders enhance these plates with scalloped edges. Stamped intaglio GIEN, the model is by Marie Pierre Boitard, a discreet designer whose designs have been published by several major French porcelain and earthenware houses, notably Gien and Haviland. Little is known about this artist, but her decorations poetically tell the French art of living, between nature, softness and tradition. Diameter 21 cm, height 3 cm. Very good condition, no cracks, very shiny, just small chips related to use on the edge of each of the plates, cracks related to time but no micro scratches from use. Perfect for a rustic chic table. I also have in my shop three flat plates of the same model.
