Extremely rare and important Art Deco water jug from the period (circa 1920-1930), created and designed by the famous artist Jean Luce (a key figure in the revival of French glassmaking) and produced by the prestigious Baccarat Manufacture. This exceptional piece, with its curved, round lines emblematic of the modernist movement of the time, is made of translucent blown crystal and shaped with tools. Its neck is elegantly highlighted with a blue thread, and its body features a magnificent enamelled decoration painted with a stencil. This stylised geometric and floral decoration (small flowers) showcases stunning shades of blue, red, and pink. The curved handle has been formed and fixed hot. A carefully ground pontil mark can be observed under the base, attesting to a very fine artisanal finish. A rare, typical, and unsigned model, as is often the case with Baccarat productions from this period (prior to 1936), but perfectly catalogued and authenticated by its characteristic style and decoration. An elegant, dense, clear, and brilliant piece, ideal for collectors or enthusiasts of exceptional table art.
