COD 01141. An important 17th-century Italian painting. This artwork oil on canvas depicts a large still life with fruit, of remarkable pictorial quality. Immersed in a splendid landscape, we find a table laden with fruit and covered in precious damask fabrics. We see velvety peaches, ripe figs, pears, citrus fruits, a bunch of grapes, and an open watermelon revealing its dark seeds. On the right, we see a flask of wine and a plate with sweets and an elegant glass goblet. The attention to different surfaces and naturalistic details, such as the dew on the pears' skins, the transparency of the glass, and the moist flesh of the watermelon, is noteworthy. The language and color palette hark back to the Northern Italian tradition of the second half of the 17th century. The balance between opulence and restraint suggests a silent reflection on the fleeting nature of life, making the painting not only an exercise in technical prowess but also a profoundly cultured work. A spectacular 20th-century frame in carved and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. A highly elegant and decoratively striking painting, it easily fits into any setting, yet is ideal for prestigious spaces, whether classic or contemporary. A still life of this quality is particularly prized by international collectors for its timeless appeal, both as an investment and as a highly refined aesthetic choice. The painting has already been restored with re-lining, replacement of the stretcher, and restoration of the color in some areas. Overall, it is in good condition. Internal dimensions: H 65.5 X W 88 cm.
