This rolling table is a representative piece of "flying furniture" from high Parisian decoration in the mid-20th century. The structural design revolves around a solid brass frame. The four main supports adopt a sinuous and curved profile, giving the whole a visual lightness. The mobility of the piece is ensured by an asymmetrical system: the front rests on small pivoting directional wheels, while the back is equipped with two large spoked wheels fitted with a rubber band. The piece features two rectangular trays with rounded corners made of transparent glass, securely held by openwork brass galleries. The cart is manoeuvred via a side grip handle that incorporates a textured central sleeve (lucite or glass) finished with rosettes. The precision of the assembly, the neoclassical repertoire, and the quality of the hardware formally link this piece to Maison Jansen. Founded in Paris in 1880, Maison Jansen remained the absolute reference for international interior decoration for nearly a century. Under the direction of Stéphane Boudin, the house specialised in the reinterpretation of Directoire and Empire styles, designing highly refined furniture for a prestigious clientele (embassies, high aristocracy). Brass rolling tables were essential custom pieces for service in reception salons. Condition report: Overall good state of preservation. The brass structure shows a natural and homogeneous patina of use, with minute traces of oxidation inherent to its age. The two original glass plates are intact (with possible micro-surface scratches related to use). The rolling system is functional. An architectural piece that will structure the space of a dining room or living room, ideally serving as a supplementary bar.
