Important French Empire-style wardrobe, made of solid walnut in the mid-19th century. It opens with two wide doors featuring moulded panels, framed by full turned half-columns resting on square bases. The straight, overhanging cornice asserts the architectural rigor characteristic of the Empire taste. The upper crosspiece is finely carved with scrolls and a stylised central motif, adding a discreet decorative touch while maintaining the characteristic sobriety of the style. The whole presents a beautiful harmony of proportions and a remarkable presence with its height of 232 cm. Original interior. The interior layout is entirely period: • Three shelves. • Three drawers located under the central shelf. • Drawers constructed with dovetail joints. • Back made of wide boards. The doors are mounted on offset pivots allowing for maximum opening — a technical detail indicative of careful craftsmanship. Original lock in perfect working condition. Condition: furniture in excellent state of preservation: • Original feet. • Original cornice. • Preserved old patina. • Functional original lock. • Structure perfectly sound. Total weight: approximately 120 kg, reflecting the quality of the wood and craftsmanship. Dimensions. • Height: 232 cm. • Width: 149 cm. • Width with cornice: 168 cm. • Depth: 62 cm.
