Mid 20th century "before the rain" swedish landscape animal cow oil painting, framed

Before the rain. Size: 45 X 53 cm (including frame) Oil on board. A mid century landscape motif painted in oil onto board, and framed in a very complementary light blue frame. A pair of cows rest on the rural pasture, and behind them sit two farm sheds. To the sky, brushstrokes have been applied in a very expressive manner – swirls of blue draw attention to the cloudy skies. The cows lie on the grass, also an ‘old wives” indication that rain might soon arrive. To the bottom half of the picture, short, repetitive and distinct strokes mark out the field. This wonderfully expressive and textured landscape is housed in a light blue frame. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
