Vintage pitcher / jug made of mouth-blown glass, in a warm amber colour fading from light honey to deep brown towards the base. The globular and bulging body, with a narrow neck and pinched spout, is dotted with fine air bubbles trapped in the mass that capture and diffuse light with a wholly artisanal poetry. The applied handle is joined with the slight irregularity characteristic of handwork. Each piece is individually blown, so none are perfectly identical. This bubble glass technique, a trademark of the Biot glassworks founded in the 1950s in Provence, has elevated what was once considered a flaw to the status of an aesthetic signature, expressed without constraint of form or colour. Although unmarked, this piece is nonetheless very representative of the style and craftsmanship unique to this artisanal Provençal production, highly sought after by vintage decor enthusiasts.
