This striking antique Persian rug comes from the Hamadan region, one of the oldest and most prolific weaving centres in the Middle East. Dating from the 1930s, this piece is a testament to the rugged durability and bold geometric artistry of Persian village textiles. Unlike the more formal city rugs, Hamadan rugs are celebrated for their charmingly idiosyncratic designs and saturated, earth-toned palettes. The rug features a strong central composition with stylised floral and geometric motifs that have softened beautifully over nearly a century. The use of high-quality, hand-spun wool and natural dyes has resulted in a piece with incredible depth and natural colour variation (abrash), giving it a unique character that machine-made rugs cannot replicate. Era: 1930s (Antique). Condition: Fair to good antique condition. This rug shows areas of low pile and wear consistent with its 90+ year history. This authentic distressed look is highly sought after in interior design as it provides a sense of history and warmth. Cleaning: Professionally cleaned and maintained. Origin: Hamadan Region, West Middle East (Persian). Dimensions: 160 cm X 241 cm (Approx. 5'3" X 7'11"). Technique: 100% hand-knotted (single-weft construction). Material: 100% local highland wool on a cotton foundation. Colours: Deep indigo, terracotta/rust, and cream accents. Features: Robust village weave, natural dyes, historical patina.
