A small, striking table lamp with real character. The conical base is finished in a deep glossy black glaze, wrapped by a hand-incised band of sgraffito motifs that catches the light beautifully where it cuts through to the pale clay underneath. Sgraffito is a decorating technique in which a layer of glaze is scratched through before firing, revealing the lighter clay body beneath, which is exactly what gives this band its crisp, graphic pattern. It has a simple, clean cone shape with no extra decoration, but that hand-carved band gives it real character. It fits well with the simple, handmade style typical of Scandinavian design from the 60s and 70s. The lamp comes with the brand new pictured linen shade in off-white, which gives off a warm, soft glow when lit and pairs beautifully with the black base. Condition is excellent: no chips, no cracks, no restoration. The lamp is fully rewired. The glaze is glossy and unblemished throughout. E14 bulb.
