This oak mirror, inspired by the louis xv/rocaille style and dating from the end of the 19th century, is a remarkable piece for its elegance and refinement. The beveled mercury glass that composes it adds a touch of sophistication and clarity to the whole. The particularity of this mirror lies in its richly decorated pediment, where shell, foliage, volute and palmette motifs unfold, testifying to the baroque and rococo influence of the period. The frame of the mirror, although molded, remains sober and refined, contrasting with the richness of the pediment. Two acanthus leaf sculptures in the lower part discreetly embellish the whole, adding a touch of stylized nature typical of the rocaille style. This mirror is not only a functional object, but also a work of art that reflects the taste and aesthetics of the end of the 19th century. ******** period: 1960 excellent condition.
