Anne Marie David and Paul Lange: Bohemians, in the excitement of the early 1970s, the two creators are interested in transparent materials to create transparent design furniture, known as Plexiglas® and Altuglas® (registered trademarks of PMMA). In their workshop at the end of a small Parisian alley, the two lovers design furniture with simple and obvious lines. They shape the prototypes by taking advantage of the material-structure, the "acrylic glass", to let light into the furniture. At the Ateliers d’arts de France fair in 1972 (now better known as "Maison & Objets"), they present seven models. The allure of the first transparent furniture, unprecedented in the landscape of French design, is immediate. The transparent coffee table, the magazine rack, the nesting table, the shelf, the dressing table, the two lamps… everything is sold. A few days later, the enthusiasm is such that they are overwhelmed with orders. Three years pass like this, they sell furniture, spend immediately, sell furniture, go into debt….
