The history of the beni ouarain tribe. This berber community comes from the middle atlas. For the record, the middle atlas is a mountain massif that is located in the center of morocco, relatively sparsely populated, its economy is based on sheep breeding (sheep, rams, and ewes), and agriculture. To protect themselves from the freezing cold prevailing over the moroccan atlas mountains, the tribes of beni ouarain (also called aït ouaraïn), who live in traditional tents, had to find solutions to protect themselves from the cold. This is how this moroccan carpet was born, a warm carpet for multiple use. Because the beni ouarain carpet was not only used as a carpet originally; the latter not only protected oneself from the cold by insulating the tents but also sleeping. Indeed, made with 100% natural sheep's wool, the beni ouarain carpet is warm but also very comfortable.
