A figurative painter and engraver, Robert Savary was part of the "Jeune Peinture, " also known as the "Young Painters" of the Nouvelle École de Paris or "Jeune Peinture de l'École de Paris." A student of Maurice Brianchon at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he won, among other awards, the Casa de Velázquez prize in 1948 and the Rome prize in 1950. Due to his qualities of light, Robert Savary's work is situated within a particular tradition of French painting, that of clear painting, made of pleasure and radiance. After living for two years in Madrid, he returned to Paris in 1949 and was appointed professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen. Savary exhibited his work in numerous prestigious salons from 1946 onwards, including the Salon de Mai, the Salon des Tuileries, the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon d'Automne, and the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts. He also participated in the Second Biennale of São Paulo, and his work was exhibited at the Drouant-David Gallery and the Charpentier Gallery in Paris in 1955. In 1960, the Galliera Museum in Paris held a solo exhibition for him. He received numerous awards for his work, including a Gold Medal in 1975 at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, a Silver Medal in 1958 at the Salon de la Marine in Paris, followed two years later by a Gold Medal. Savary's paintings can be serene and calm, or full of activity and movement. He took Matisse's lesson to heart, revealing in his paintings a "joy of living" full of life and animation. Of an enthusiastic temperament, he painted on-site subjects that exude joy, happiness, and life. Throughout his career, he never ceased to be amazed by the beauty of nature and the female form, as well as the hidden beauty of the intimate and the everyday.
