Fritz edvard kärfve, born in 1880 in malmö, died in 1967, was a swedish painter and graphic artist. Already at the age of 14, kärfve began training as a decorative painter with edmond stoltz. After school, he worked, among others, for the danish decorative painter fischer. During these years, kärfve also attended technical night school and learned to draw sketches. In 1899, kärfve applied to the school of the artists' association in stockholm. Out of 132 applicants, 25 were accepted, among them was kärfve. After half a year, only five remained: ivar arosenius, tore wahlström, hjalmar asp, värmlands-lind and kärfve. In the artists' association, kärfve was led by richard bergh, who was increasingly fond of kärfve's art. During his years in stockholm, kärfve became friends with many artists, such as ivar arosenius, gerhard henning, anders zorn. In 1903 kärfve traveled to norrland [explain].
