Wheat ear coffee table. Patinated metal sculpture. Circular glass top. By Robert Goossens (1927-2016). A goldsmith for Cartier, he took off as an independent and became a jewelry and furniture supplier for Coco Chanel. He made his mark with his iconic wheat ear table. He also worked for Hermès, Dior, Balenciaga and other big names in fashion including Yves Saint Laurent and Elsa Schaparelli. France, circa 1970. Black patinated metal sculpture. Circular glass table top. Very good condition, beautiful original black patina with superficial signs of wear consistent with its age. Micro scratches on the glass top are barely visible, no chips.
