This very stylized cat is authentic and ancient, it bears the signature charles virion (charles louis eugène virion). It responds perfectly to the art deco period. Charles virion was a student of charles gauthier and jean-paul aubé at the école des beaux-arts in paris. After learning artistic earthenware in choisy-le-roi, charles virion moved to montigny-sur-loing in 1889 where he became a decorator, medallist, sculptor and animal painter. Works by charles virion are kept in paris at the musée d'orsay and the museum of the art of fauna and flora in jackson hole, wyoming, united states. For the condition, note a crack glued on the back, other cracks on the foot, small jumps of enamel, however it remains in an acceptable general condition.
