Large and spectacular ceramic floor lamp by Jaan Mobach, sculptor and ceramist, 1933 - 2003, Utrecht, Netherlands. Signed in relief on the reverse. "Mobach Keramiek", founded in Utrecht in 1895, is considered one of the greatest dynasties of Dutch ceramists. Always of very high quality, their production has been and remains handcrafted, in small quantities or as unique pieces. Chamotte clay glazed in brown, red, and pale green. Wide flat handle at the bottom. The electrical fitting appears to be original, secured to the neck by a thick cork stopper. (We believe it is possible to remove this stopper, glued with putty, if one wishes to eliminate the lighting part; the vase is not drilled, the power supply being external). The brass stem is removable and height-adjustable by a screw; it supports 3 screw sockets and the lampshade. The lampshade is old, complete, but has stains. However, with its particular frame (set), and the pattern, it is possible to have it remade. The ceramic base is in excellent condition, and we have not detected any defects. Height of the ceramic: 61.5 cm, of the lampshade: 81 cm. Width of the base at the handle: 27.5 cm, diameter: 18.5 cm. Lampshade: diameter of 27 cm at the top to 40 cm at the bottom. Total weight: 10.2 kg.
