We are offering a Simris/Olympia floor lamp designed by Anders Pehrson and made by Ateljé Lyktan in the 1960s. It is in very good original condition. This is the first version from 1964, with a leather-covered stem, a polished metal base and the original three-step switch system. The lamp takes two bulbs of different wattage, so you can switch on the low-wattage bulb, the higher-wattage bulb, or both together, giving three levels of light. Overall the condition is very good. The shade has a few minor scuff marks but no dents. The white plastic part of the holding mechanism has yellowed with age and has a small crack on one side, which does not affect how it works. The leather has been nourished and looks great, with only minor scuffs. The stitching on the underside of the leather has come loose. It can easily be restitched, but we are selling the lamp in its current original state. The polished metal base has only minor scratches and still shines like a mirror. The lamp still has its diffuser, which is often missing from Simris lamps on the market today, and it also has its original chrome-coloured switch button. The Simris series was designed in 1964. It became a worldwide success after the organisers of the 1972 Olympic Games in Germany chose Ateljé Lyktan as one of three lighting suppliers. Ateljé Lyktan supplied around 70% of the fittings needed and delivered 16, 300 Simris lamps in several models, all in white: floor, wall and table lamps. They were made for the Olympic facilities and the Olympic village, which is how the Simris got its second name, the Olympia. This Simris/Olympia takes 2 E14 bulbs.
