Fantasy Island 2-seater sofa by Kurt Beier, Germany 1980's/1990's

This sculptural 2-seater sofa was designed by the german designer kurt beier. It is part of the 'fantasy island' collection and has the model name "eiserne jungfrau". It is made out of a beech wooden frame with organically shaped legs, a brushed steel back and a brown leather seat with 2 loose leather cushions. The leather has been worked within the design to give it a somewhat more industrial look, black stripes and a patinated look were added to the soft leather. The design with its playful mix of materials makes it more than just functional. This iconic sofa can also very easily be seen as a work of art. It is in a good condition, with a beautiful patina of age and use. Seat height: 40 cm.
