Camembert dish or butter dish in Rouen earthenware

A charming and attractive vintage Rouen earthenware Camembert dish. This lovely cheese dome is hand-painted in vibrant shades of blue, green, yellow, and ochre. It is signed by the artist inside the dome and bears the hand-painted inscription "Fait Main" (Handmade) on the base. As you can see in the photos, a Camembert fits perfectly inside the dome, and since we are located just a few kilometers from the famous cheese-making village, it seems only fitting to offer it for sale in our physical shop and here on Etsy. The Camembert dome is in good vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There are a few small glaze "blemishes" here and there, and some yellowing marks on the underside. The cheese dish measures approximately 9 cm high (including the dome and handle). The dome itself has a diameter of 14 cm, and the plate has a diameter of just over 21 cm. Together, they weigh approximately 600 g without packaging. A lovely camembert dome to add to a collection of Rouen or Quimper pottery, perfect for use at home or as a gift.
