This hand-woven oriental Mir-Saruk rug was made in Iran during the 1960s. Mir-Saruk is a term used to describe a type of rug pattern that combines two distinct traditional styles: the Mir and the Saruk or Sarough. Mir, a pattern originating from the Serabend region of Iran, also known as Boteh, a motif resembling a drop or a small pine tree, is sometimes considered a prototype of the paisley pattern. The Mir pattern is characterised by small, repetitive motifs, often arranged in rows, creating a dense and symmetrical composition. The background of the rug is often red, blue, or brown, while the main motif is in contrasting colours. Saruk is a style of rug originating from the Arak region of Iran, known for its high-quality wool, durability, and rich patterning. Saruk rugs are characterised by a central medallion, floral motifs, and elegant, curved lines. Saruk rugs typically have rich colours, with shades of red, pink, blue, and beige predominating. The Mir-Saruk rug is a fusion of these two styles. This rug combines the delicacy and harmony of the Mir pattern with the sophistication and richness of the Saruk pattern, creating an elegant and unique product, valued both for its aesthetics and craftsmanship. The rug is in original vintage condition, showing signs of wear due to age and abrasion of the edges. Before shipping, it will be professionally cleaned and ready for use. The rug has an abrash effect. This is a phenomenon found in traditional, hand-woven rugs, characterised by subtle variations in shades of the same colour within a single weft. This is most common in Persian, Turkish, Caucasian, and other rugs handcrafted from natural materials such as wool or silk. Variations in colour may result from the use of natural dyes, which do not always produce a uniform result, especially if the wool was dyed in different batches or at different times. As wool ages, it can change colour to varying degrees, which also contributes to the abrash effect. The colours of the products shown in the photos may differ slightly from the actual ones. This is due to individual monitor settings and lighting conditions – the photos were taken in artificial light, which may affect the perception of colours. However, we strive to ensure that the photos reflect the actual appearance of the product as faithfully as possible. The offer may include photos of the item in the living space, but these are for illustrative purposes only.
