Prestigious dessert service in Louis XVI style, dating from the late 19th century or the very early 20th century. This set, crafted to a quality worthy of the great Parisian crystal manufacturers, includes a large centrepiece and its 5 matching bowls. The set consists of two exceptional elements: 1. The gilded bronze feet: a remarkable chiselling, typical of the Louis XVI repertoire. The circular bases feature a magnificent frieze of garlands of flowers and foliage held by ribbon knots. A silversmith/bronze maker's mark (a letter engraved in a square cartouche) is present under the base of one of the bowls. 2. The blown and engraved crystal: The crystal bowls, of great clarity and perfect crystalline sound, are delicately wheel-engraved with a swirling design of wild roses, dog roses, and fine leafy arabesques. Dimensions of the large bowl (361 g): • Diameter: 14.5 cm. • Height: 17.6 cm. Dimensions of the 5 bowls (each 77 g): • Diameter: 6.7 cm. • Height: 11.3 cm. • Superb overall condition for pieces of this era. • The crystal is clear, with no chips, cracks, or opacity. • The bronzes have a magnificent old patina that enhances the original gilding (not cleaned to preserve its authenticity). A unique sparkle for a festive table or a collector's display.
