Large 18th-century gilded carved wooden candlestick – Baroque base
Magnificent church candlestick foot from the 18th century, made of carved and gilded wood, with an extraordinary old patina. The quality of the carvings is remarkable: delicate foliage, generous large scrolls, powerful and refined details. Its slender silhouette, perfect proportions, and tripod base give it an almost monumental presence. Time has passed, the gilding has worn away, but the beauty and quality of the work remain intact. An incredible patina, carefully preserved. Devoid of its original spike, it now lends itself to all sorts of fantasies: hosting a trailing plant, a statue, a vase, or any other precious object. It can also stand alone, like a true sculpture. A unique antique piece, full of strength, poetry, and magic. Dimensions: H 78 cm. Ø base 40 cm. Top 10 × 10 cm. Weight: 2.6 kg. Old condition, with wear to the gilding and signs of time visible in the photographs.
