Blown glass bottle

A small blown glass bottle with a twisted neck, which immediately reveals that it has been handcrafted: the frosted glass body displays a slight irregularity in texture, a breath in the shape, that only the blower's gesture can impart - impossible to achieve on a piece produced from a perfectly symmetrical industrial mould. The opalescent patina that covers the glass, both milky and changing according to the light, has developed over time and gives the piece all its softness. The neck is encircled by a finely beaded silver mount, extended by a stylised handle resembling a winged silhouette - a decorative motif found on toiletry and dressing table items from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, to which this piece can reasonably be attributed. Today, only one handle remains; the piece likely originally had two. The bottle rests on a transparent glass base, which contrasts with the matte finish of the body. Dimensions: 16 cm high, 7 cm wide at its widest point. Usage idea: as a small vase for a single flower, or as a decorative object on a dressing table, for its uniquely textured glass that is pleasing to both touch and sight.
