Black bobbin chair with armrests and rush seat – ca. 1900-1930
€550
An elegant bobbin chair with armrests, known in Dutch as a klosjesstoel or knobbelstoel. Legs, stretchers, spindles and armrests are built up entirely from turned ‘bobbins’, and the armrests end in round knobs. The chair is lacquered black and has a hand-woven rush seat. Made in the period 1900–1930, in the tradition of Dutch and English bobbin furniture. Good and sturdy condition. The black lacquer is worn on the knobs, armrests and feet, revealing the wood. There is a small drying crack in one of the knobs of the armrest. The rush seat is intact and firm, with slight discolouration at the front edge.
