Here is a very elegant chair for young children made of light bent wood with four splayed legs in a Scandinavian style. It features a plastic pot under a removable wooden plate, a swivelling tray with an abacus. This appears to be the "Baby Coquille" model manufactured by the famous Baumann factory in the 1960s. I did indeed find a link to a "preparation" page of the Baumann catalogue from 1965 where this chair is shown, but I did not find any Baumann marking on the chair, which may have sometimes been replaced by a label affixed to the furniture. Some sources on the web mention the Eames couple as the designers, but I found nothing to confirm this. It seems quite rare; probably this model was more expensive at the time, or bent wood models have aged worse than others. I have cleaned it carefully; the remaining marks are indelible. In my opinion, it is still usable as it is, but a nice restoration (sanding and revarnishing) could be considered, and this chair certainly deserves it, as it is so typical of an era. This chair is in generally good condition, complete, with no breaks or parts that could splinter, but it obviously also shows signs that testify to its age and the use it has endured over 60 years: various stains and marks on the wood, the plastic pot has aged and also has marks, and the metal parts (screws, tray tab, and abacus rod) show the patina of time, with superficial corrosion. It measures approximately 39 cm in height at the back, 19 cm in seat height, 38 cm in maximum depth, and 33 cm in maximum width.
