Set of six majolica plates from the Saint-Clément pottery, featuring a stylised fish design in high relief. The work showcases volumes and textures. Each fish has a prominent head, carefully drawn scales, ribbed fins, and an outstretched tail. The wavy edge of the plates complements the decoration. The glossy glaze displays shades of amber brown, caramel, and honey, with darker accents that highlight the reliefs. The variations in tones and play of light add significant depth to the whole piece. Stamped Saint Clément, a pottery founded in the 18th century in Lorraine. Diameter 25.5 cm, height 2.5 cm. In beautiful vintage condition, with a lovely shine, there are traces of kiln supports on the back characteristic of the firing process, corresponding to the points of contact of the supports used in the oven. There are a few tiny chips on the edges of three plates (see photos). Fish, reliefs, amber colour: the charm of vintage majolica.
