Ceramic dove from Mexico – Decorated with nahual cat

Ceramic dove from Mexico. Slender silhouette with a long striped neck and tapered tail. The hand-painted decoration combines a deep blue-grey, stylised black and white foliage, and small touches of brick red. On the back, a white cat, a figure inspired by the world of the nahual, a character from Mexican folklore associated with animal transformation. The dove rests on two conical feet made of red clay. Light beak, large eyes, with a design that extends to the tip of the tail for a unique graphic presence. Mexico is mentioned under the tail. In good vintage condition, with a patina of use, slight wear to the decoration, and a few marks on the beak and especially under the feet (see photos). Dimensions: length 27 cm, height 16 cm, width 7 cm. A streamlined silhouette with a rich decoration: all the character of Mexican craftsmanship.
