Prie-dieu

We propose here an authentic prie-dieu (years 1920-30) in a remarkable state of conservation. If, sometimes, such furniture, present damaged tapestries, this one offers a period décor without a hitch. When the tones may have faded slightly, it is only to prove that he carries with him, marks of time that have not had a grip on his condition. The cabinetmaking (perhaps walnut) is perfect. If a slight lack on a cross member appears (for the rare parts in veneer), it is to better display an eternal "shape"... From a pray to god, we expect no less! And what about the feet, on the façade, whose elegance testifies to a craftsmanship of excellence. The photos then speak for themselves. The "elbow rest" (well padded) is also itself in tone, since in its center a cross appears in the tapestry. Another cross, more imposing, occupies the center of the vertical woodwork, surrounded by rays of sunshine, as a mark of resurrection, more than passion. The general appearance of this armchair is rather part of a gothicity that makes it a real piece of furniture with undeniable quality. Even the padding of the "kneeling seat", is still welcoming. The floral décor is light and discreet. While many are also part of a napoleon III movement, presenting colors... Black, it brings a freshness thanks to its more joyful tones. Still called prayer chairs, these chairs now contribute more to the decoration, or even to serve as a supplement for a seat on which children, in particular, feel good. But nothing forbids to put your knees there, to meditate, or not... We are then far from the "discomforts" that would provide a "prayer chair" made of wood and straw, most of the time.
