Pair of Louis XV style salon chairs in carved wood.
For sale: an elegant pair of antique Louis XV style salon chairs in very good overall condition. The structure is made of solid wood (blonde stained beech) with molded and sculpted rocaille motifs (flowers, shells, and scrolls). The curved backrest is openwork with a sculpted central crossbar and curved front legs. The woodwork is healthy, stable, and has a beautiful warm patina. The seats are firm and comfortable, redone using traditional methods (crossed jute webbing secured with upholstery tacks). They are covered in a textured almond green upholstery fabric in very good condition, highlighted with a beige braided trim. Both chairs are equipped with antique brass casters with beaded collars, mounted only on the front legs. This ingenious system, typical of antique salon chairs, allowed for easy movement on wooden floors while ensuring good stability when sitting down. Two casters have been replaced in the past; see photos. Feel free to contact me for more photos.
