Russian sugar dove, gjel style ceramics by artist irina antropova. Size: 185x125x135mm. For the record: The traditional painting of gjel is typical of russia; it represents motifs of the flora, the rose of gjel is the most frequently used motif, mixing a contrast between the blue created from cobalt oxide and the white of the porcelain. The rise of gjel's art industry took place in the second half of the 18th. At first, porcelain painting was colorful, but in the middle of the 19th century, the fashion for blue and white dutch tiles and chinese porcelain came to russia. Russian craftsmen adopted the trend and very quickly blue patterns on a snowy background became the mark of gjel's painting (a fine gold or platinum decoration can also be added to it), which fits perfectly into the cultural code of the russian mentality: a combination of blue sky, white churches and golden domes.
