Decorative chess set in malachite, 1950–1970

Elegant decorative chess set consisting of a circular board made of natural malachite, with deep green veins, and matching pieces in green malachite and light stone. Dating from the mid-20th century, this set is part of the tradition of decorative objects inspired by Eastern Europe, highly valued for their material quality and refined aesthetics. The board, with a diameter of 21.5 cm, is in excellent condition. The pieces, with a simple and stylised design, measure up to 3.5 cm for the king. Some have been previously re-glued, without affecting the stability or visual harmony of the whole (see photos). An object that is both decorative and collectible, ideal for a library, an office, or a reception room.
