Rare and over a hundred years old: a unique, poetic and characterful piece for lovers of antique earthenware, ironstone collectors, or interiors with old-fashioned charm. An antique pedestal plate – Clairefontaine factory – ironstone – circa 1870-1890, a small, forgotten masterpiece from the Clairefontaine – Sanejouand & Graves factory, active in Montereau in the second half of the 19th century. Its deep blue-black decoration depicts faded flowers and very graphic, almost botanical foliage, in a style evoking 19th-century naturalist plates. The motif is soberly titled "flowers", inscribed on the reverse under a magnificent marine anchor stamp, typical of this manufacture between 1870 and 1890. The surface is marked by time: a very slight shine on the edge, cracks in the enamel, nuanced ivory tint, old patina... So many signs of a long life which add to its raw and authentic charm. The discreet pedestal brings a subtle elevation, perfect for making it a presentation piece, a decorative wall plate or an elegant support for floral arrangements or candles. Diameter: 24 cms. Height: 4 cms (the pedestal measures 2 cms).
