Elegant walnut writing desk with a stepped design, in the Louis Philippe style, dating from the second half of the 19th century. This charming workpiece stands out for its refined architecture, harmonious proportions, and beautiful old patina with warm blonde tones. It rests on four turned and fluted legs, adorned with rings and rounded motifs characteristic of the Louis Philippe decorative vocabulary. The upper part features a stepped section opening with four small drawers arranged in two rows. The two upper drawers have turned wooden knobs, while the two lower drawers have keyholes. The stepped section is topped with an elegant openwork gallery composed of small turned balusters, forming a decorative surround on three sides. The large work surface is enhanced in the center by an old green leather writing pad, highlighted by a delicate golden frieze. It offers a comfortable writing surface while adding a pleasant touch of color to the whole. The desk's apron opens with two additional drawers, allowing for the storage of documents and work accessories. The whole piece presents a lovely patina and retains the authentic charm of antique furniture. Period: second half of the 19th century. Style: Louis Philippe. Wood type: walnut. Dimensions: Total height: 105 cm Width: 90 cm Depth: 49 cm Depth when open: 65 cm Condition: generally good presentation condition, with signs of use and marks of time. The leather writing pad shows visible wear, consistent with its age. A very nice antique desk, both decorative and functional, ideal for a study, library, bedroom, or characterful interior.
