Period: ca. 1890-1910. A very special table with a lot of art nouveau charm and a nod to the orient. This medium-sized table has two intermediate rattan levels at different heights under the main table top. The table frame is made of actual bamboo (i.e. It is hollow) as opposed to false bamboo which has also often been used for furniture production. Decorative corner elements are made of thinner bamboo stems and have small protruding sticks. The table has been restored; various repairs were necessary, especially on the table top, after which it was painted in a 'japanese red' lacquer in order to respect the oriental character of many old art nouveau pieces. State: Ok. Structurally sound. The table has been restored to prevent further deterioration; the table folder was not original and has been the subject of much work, and new borders have been placed. Some minor surface repairs to the rods. This table does not claim to be new and some things have been kept as is, for example the border work around the rattan shelves is high in the areas, and some of the small decorative pinsticks are missing. Dimensions: 75 cm high, 67 cm long, 42 cm wide, 7.5 kg.
