These dessert plates are old ladies because they are almost... 170 years old. We were very lucky to find 8 of them, which is extremely rare as the models are increasingly difficult to find. They come from the jules vieillard manufacture in bordeaux, which was one of the flagships of fine bordeaux earthenware in the 19th century. We can date them according to their stamp before the year 1865, the date on which the sons joined their father. From this date the stamp indicated jv & cie. The factory closed its doors in 1895. These plates are part of the tableware that the wealthy bourgeoisie loved to display their opulence. Today, we showcase them on a beautiful table, with old glasses, bouquets of wild flowers, a pretty tablecloth. Foxgloves, carnations, irises run over the wing and the margin of the plate and join the basin. The whole creates a very beautiful decor, a precursor of art-nouveau. And we really like the sepia tone. The plates have signs of use consistent with their very age. A few breaks in the earthenware, the basin which has what we call tea stains for some, but the patterns are intact and their timeless charm will always work. Diameter: 21 cm.
