An absolute icon of European design, the Thonet bistro chair is one of the most emblematic pieces of furniture there is. The steam-bent wood technique, patented by Michael Thonet in the mid-19th century, revolutionised furniture manufacturing by allowing the creation of soft and elegant shapes from a simple and lightweight material. The backrest of this example features a double arch loop. Its solid wood seat is framed by a continuous curved band. The four curved legs, connected by a characteristic circular stretcher, ensure remarkable sturdiness despite the apparent lightness of the whole. A vintage piece of character, as beautiful alone in decoration as it is functional for everyday use, it will find its place in a bistro, industrial interior, or simply for those who appreciate the great classics of design. Sold in its original condition with signs of wear visible in the photos.
