An old serving or toilet dish in white earthenware, oval and scalloped in shape. It has a milky white glaze with slightly grey-blue reflections, covered with a fine network of crazing. The edge forms soft lobes, with a more pronounced notch on one side. The slightly domed reverse gives the basin the appearance of a low bowl. On the reverse, there is an impressed mark surrounded by a crown of foliage, partially legible. Likely of French manufacture, from the late 19th century or the first half of the 20th century. The notch resembles shaving dishes and toilet pieces in earthenware from this period, although the original use cannot be established (the mark on the reverse is illegible). This dish can find its place in a bathroom, on a sideboard, or on a shelf, either for display or as a catch-all. The cracked white and the curves of the edge can suit a wabi-sabi or bohemian chic decor as well as a more minimalist interior. Length: 43.5 cm, width: 31.5 cm, height: 3 cm; Weight: 2 kg. In good used condition. Crazing of the glaze across the entire piece, small chips of glaze on part of the edge, a few brown spots and a light line on the reverse, near the mark.
